The African Super League will kick off in August 2023 with 24 clubs up to $100 million (R1.6 billion) in prize money, Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed.
A decision was taken this Sunday, July 03, 2022 during the CAF Executive Committee meeting in Rabat (Morocco), where a host of important issues were discussed, including confirmation of the change in formats for CAF interclub competitions in a two-legged final.
“It will never happen again. It’s something I inherited, it’s something I couldn’t change, the decision was made before me. We will have a two-legged final because again,” he said of the decision after the controversial final in which Wydad Atheltic Club beat Al Ahly on their home ground – the venue which hosted the last two Champions League finals.
