Mexican women’s top-flight league campaigners, Tigres UANL (women) has completed the signing of Nigerian Super Falcons Striker, Uchenna Kanu, from the Swedish Allevenkan Women league side, Linköpings FC.
In a statement on their official website, the four-time Liga MX winners have revealed the acquisition of the former Sevilla player who will be eligible to play from January 2022 but did not disclose the duration of the contract signed.
“Nigerian Uchenna Grace Kanu is now officially a Tigres Femenil player, and will join the team from the Clausura 2022 tournament,” read part of the statement.
The Nigerian Super Falcons striker rose to prominence after featuring for the Nigerian Women U17 and U20 Cadet National team sides which landed her first professional contract outside the shores of the country with an American-based women outfit, Pensacola FC Women, in 2018.
The lanky striker who functions effectively as a winger shot herself into stardom following exciting seasons with the American-based outfit, Pensacola FC Women, where she spent two seasons, scoring Seventeen (17) goals in twelve (12) appearances.
Upon her contract expiration with the Pensacola FC Women team, Kanu completed a move to Spanish based Women outfit, Sevilla, where she found it difficult to carve a niche for herself.
The Nigerian Super Falcons talisman, Uchenna Kanu, zoomed off to Swedish Allevenkan Women league outfit, Linköpings FC, where she achieved a big feat, Scoring twenty-two (22) goals in forty-two (42) appearances in a season.
Kanu’s Scillinating form with the Nigeria women national team side and with her Swedish-based outfit turned the lanky striker a ‘Hot Cake’ before she settled for a Mexican outfit, Tigres UANL (women) for an undisclosed fee.
