A master class performance by the Mailantarki Care Football Academy saw them convincingly beat ex International goalkeeper Dosu Joseph football academy 3-1 in the ongoing Mailantarki/TGC/PRO Ball scouting tournament on Wednesday at Remo Stadium Ikenne, Ogun State.
The Gombe boys were much lively since the blast of the first whistle as Isiyaku Sale, Sadiq Abdullahi and Shamsudeen Ibrahim doing what they knew the best from the center down to the flanks, the beautiful display paid off just before the quarter-hour mark as midfield maestro Sadiq Abdullahi freed forward Zangina Attahiru on the left flank, the latter swiftly lofted a long-range strike against the onrushing opponent goalkeeper as the ball landed into an unguarded net for the opener.
The lads extended their leads just two minutes later when Shamsudeen Ibrahim set Bashir Isa on goal deep inside Dosu Joseph’s boy box, Bashir comforted himself before firing low beneath the goalie and into the back of the net.
Shamsudeen Ibrahim put the game to bed moment after the restart when he embarked on a beautiful run where he dribbled past his marker on the right flank before clinically fired a left-footed strike that beat the goalkeeper in his near post.
Michael Faramin scored a consolation for the Lagos Boys in the half-hour mark after a defensive mixed up that lets the ball fell kindly for the scorer who easily applied the finish as the game ended 3-1 in favour of the Mailantarki boys.
A mouth-watering fixtures awaits the high flying Mailantarki boys as they will square off against host Remo Stars tomorrow Thursday by 9am.
