Former Super Eagles winger Finidi George is set to take over the vacant coaching role of Nigeria Professional football league side Enyimba football club of Aba who are without a gaffer after they opted against renewing the contract of former manager Fatai Osho.
The former Remo Stars head coach ended a two years unsuccessful union with the Peoples Elephants where he only managed to guide them to two consecutive quarter-finals finish in the CAF Confederations Cups losing out to Horoyah FC of Guinea and Pyramids of Egypt respectively.
Finidi George, Imama Amapakabo, Emmanuel Amunike, and former Wikki Tourists coach Abdullahi Usman Abd’ allah were all tipped for the job, however, according to the latest development, it seems that the former Ajax Amsterdam man is likely to be named the new manager of the club with the latest reports confirming that the former Nigeria International has arrived Aba and will meet with the management of the club ahead of finalizing the deal.
The 1994 Africa cup of Nations winner who started his coaching career with Real Mallorca of Spain Under 17 team holds a UEFA B coaching license.
The 50-year-old if appointed will be handed with the task of guiding the two times CAF Champions League winners to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after they placed third on the NPFL table last season.
Finidi George who won 62 caps for the Nigeria senior national team scoring six goals excelled in Europe where he won the UEFA champions league with Ajax Amsterdam in 1995.
He also featured for top European clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, Real Betis, Real Mallorca, and Ipswich Town.
